Downtown, After Rain

Cairo gets maybe eight rainy days a year. For three winters I kept a bag by the door and went out the moment it started.

A narrow street between tall buildings
Sherif Street, twenty minutes after it stopped.
Shopfront light on a wet street at night
Nobody stays out. That's the whole appeal.

The buildings look their age when they're wet.
